KSTL Information

Rules 

  1. This competition is open to all Kansas students in grades 5 thru 12.
  2. Each school may bring two advisors and a group of up to twenty students. Additional students may be approved if room is available. You must get permission before bringing additional students.
  3. Each school may enter up to two presentations in each division, in either the middle school or high school age bracket.
  4. Each student may participate in two presentations during the day, that may include: two single presentations; one single and one group presentation; or two group presentations.
  5. Each presentation group may be no larger than four students.

Awards 

Awards will be provided at the end of the competition based on presentation scores.

The following awards will be presented:

  • A plaque will be presented to the team placing 1st thru 3rd place in each event.
  • Medals will be presented to the students placing 1st thru 3rd place in each event.
  • Certificates of placement will be presented to students placing 1st thru 6th place in each event.

Judging

  1. Projects are judged by panelist from the field.
  2. There will be 2 or 3 judges in each room.
  3. Judges will ask the student(s) questions at the end of the presentation.
  4. Advisors may be asked to assist in the time-keeping part of the student presentations.

Advisors

  1. Every school must be accompanied by at least one advisor.
  2. Two free advisor registrations for this event.
  3. No school may "drop off" students that are unaccompanied.
  4. Advisors will be responsible for their students and will need to accompany their students to each competition activity.
  5. When students are not competing they should be encouraged to watch other student presentations.
  6. Advisors are responsible for obtaining all proper permissions and following all copyright laws.

Internet Connectivity

  • Wireless Internet Connectivity will be available in the presentation rooms
  • Students shall present their projects from a local medium, not the Internet.
  • Please review the policy for KSU visitors and guests.

Equipment

  • Schools should bring their own laptop for presentation purposes.
  • All competition rooms will have a projector with VGA & HDMI cables to connect to, as well as Multimedia Speakers for presenter use.
  • Adapter cables need for projector connection will NOT be provided. Please bring your own.

 

Prizes

  • There will be drawings for prizes for both students and advisors.

Meals

  • A morning continental breakfast will be available.
  • Snacks will be provided in the afternoon after the Keynote speaker and before the awards ceremony.
  • Lunch is on your own, you may wish to visit the Union food court.
