Information
The purpose of this competition is to allow students in Kansas schools an opportunity to showcase
their work and to provide a venue to recognize their efforts and achievements.
Students will present projects they have developed as part of their technology
classes or organizations. Project presentations will be judged and awards will
be given at the end of the day.
This competition is open to all Kansas students in grades 6 thru 12.
Projects are judged by panelists from the field; and to enhance continuity of the
judging process, registrants will denote the type of presentation by:
- Individual or Group
- Grade Level Spreads K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
- Public
- Content Area or Focus (Reading, Math, School Info, etc..)

Copyright
Entries for the KSTL Digital Media Competition must be original work and must not infringe copyright regulations.
Advisors should oversee the student production process to verify that copyright rules are followed and that students will be eligible for placement in the competition.
Where copyright material is used, evidence of permission and/or right to use the material will need to be referenced. Failure to do so will render the submission ineligible for "Top 6" placement in the competition.
Copyright and citing sources will be part of the judging process.

Logistical & Technical Requirements
Internet Connectivity
- Wireless Internet Connectivity will be available in the presentation rooms,
however Internet reliability cannot be guaranteed! Please review the policy for KSU visitors and guests.
- Students shall present their projects from a local medium, not the Internet.
Equipment
- Schools should bring their own laptop for presentation purposes.
- All competition rooms will have an LCD projector and Multimedia Speakers for
presenter use.
- Apple computer users should bring a VGA Adapter cable for projector connection.

Judging
There
will be 2 or 3 judges in each room.
Judges will ask the student(s) questions at
the end of the presentation.
Advisors may be asked to assist in the time-keeping part of the student
presentations.

the judging of projects are available.

Awards
Awards will be provided at the end of the competition based on presentation scores.
The following awards will be presented:
- Plaques will be presented to the team placing 1st thru 3rd place in each event.
- Medals will be presented to the students placing 1st thru 3rd place in each event.
- Certificates of placement will be presented to students placing 1st thru 6th place in each event.

Prizes
There will be drawings for prizes.

Advisors
Every school must be accompanied by at least one paid advisor. No school
may "drop off" students that are unaccompanied.
Advisors will be responsible for their students and
will need to accompany their students to each competition activity.
When
students are not competing they should be encouraged to watch other student
presentations.
Advisors are responsible for obtaining all proper permissions and following all copyright laws.

Rules
This competition is open to all Kansas students in grades 6 thru 12.
Each school may bring two advisors and a group of up to ten students. Additional students may be approved if room is available. You must get permission before bringing additional students.
Each
school may enter up to two presentations in each division, in either the middle school or high school age bracket.
Each student may participate in two presentations during the day, that may include: two single presentations; one single and one group presentation; or two group presentations.
Each presentation group may be no larger than four students.

Meals
A morning continental breakfast will be available.
Snacks will be provided throughout the day.
Lunch is on your own, you may wish to visit the Union food court.

Registration
Entry Fee: $30.00 per each student and advisor.
Registration is limited to the first 300 students and advisors to register.
Deadline for entries is on the Registration page, or the maximum of 300
registrants, whichever comes first.
We reserve the right to limit registration.

If a purchase order is sent, a check must be in hand on day of registration.
Notice of Cancellation must be received by Jodi DeArmond.
Cancellations: No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after March 15, 2012.
Payment of fees will be required to be paid even if you do not attend, unless you follow the cancellation procedure.
